Kevin DeNicola

Reading stories about people who sailed around the world while listening to Jimmy Buffet songs convinced Kevin DeNicola he had to become a sailor. But despite growing up along he coast of Long Island, it wasn't until he attended college in Virginia that he actually learned to sail. Moving to the Texas Gulf Coast in 1978, Kevin became an active dinghy racer competing in local and regional regattas in a variety of boats over the years including Sunfish, Lasers, Lido 14's and Hobie 16's. In the late 90's Kevin decided it was time to move up to larger, more comfortable cruising boats that were incapable of capsizing. He began taking ASA sailing classes at Bay Area Sailing School and by 2000 became an ASA instructor. In addition to sailing regularly in Galveston, Kevin has also cruised between Florida and the Bahamas and recently made a trip along the coast of Maine. Despite middle age, Kevin still loves to get out on the water in his Laser Pico and get wet!
