James Grant started sailing
in his early pre-teenage years. Taking sailing lessons on a Sunfish on
Lake Livingston. Spending weekends on lakes, sailing the Sunfish or
sailing with his parents friends yacht, sailing was a love instilled at
youth. Raising a family, the love of sailing took form with the purchase
of a Hobbie Cat. For years of sailing fun
and
teaching my children the same love that I grew up with at the Texas City
Dike or on the beach in the Gulf of Mexico. He spent his life in the
bays and Gulf of Mexico by power boat or sail. With his Children raised,
he needed something fun and constructive to do. He looked into sailing
and did research on sailing schools in the area. The best and the one
with most value was Bay Area Sailing School. After his first 101 course,
He remembered how much he loved sailing. Joe gave him his Mentor Sail
that taught him many of the skills he teaches today. Then there was the
free charter with friends.
“I
have had the honor of attaining my 106 certification, my 203 and 204
Instructors Certifications and a vast amount of knowledge and
experiences that I will remember for a lifetime Through the Instructors
of Bay Area Sailing and the IQC ( Instructor Qualification Clinics), I
venture on the re-found love of sailing at the higher level, that has
changed my life and enjoy sharing this love with the student of Bay Area
Sailing.”
After his 103 and 104 course, he was hooked. A 3 Day trip, sailing to Galveston and learning about Yachting, in its true sense.
After, he set a goal of being on the water almost every weekend during the summer. Through ASA and Bay Area Sailing School ( Where the Gulf Coast Instructor Clinics are held) he was tested as an instructor to limits he didn’t know he was capable of and was recognized to have the skills and instructional qualities set by the highest standards of ASA and Bay Area Sailing School.
Thank you Bay Area Sailing and the ASA.
