Henry Milam
Raised in the Houston area, Henry Milam has been sailing
for 45 years, beginning on Clear Lake with a small boat before NASA or much else
was there. He raced small boats for many years and has chartered in the
Caribbean. Teaching is his life, as he retired early as a professor and dean
from a university in Iowa and moved back to Texas four years ago. Through the
years he has taught various boating courses for the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary
and U.S. Power Squadrons. In addition to his ASA certifications to teach Basic
Keelboat, Basic Coastal Cruising, Coastal Navigation and Bareboat Chartering, he
holds a U.S.C.G. 100 ton Master license. He lives on a 41-ft. sailboat in a
nearby marina.
