Andy Hollingsworth first went sailing as a young teen while on a family vacation. The year was 1978 and that afternoon spent sailing on Pensacola Bay on a rented Hobie Cat would change his life forever. Soon after he purchased a catamaran and began sailing the lakes and bays of southeast Texas. After spending seven months as crew on the Golden Hinde, a replica of Francis Drake's galleon, he began spending time on larger boats and primarily sailing in salt water. After spending much time researching sailing schools, Andy chose ASA and signed up for his first class in 1994. Since that time, his certifications have grown with his skills and he was certified as an ASA instructor in 2000. Most of his sailing experience has been in the Galveston Bay area and the Florida Keys where he learned to enjoy racing. He recently made a voyage from Key West to Veradero, Cuba continuing to Havana and returning to Key West. He still enjoys being on the water with the wind in the sails as much as that first day and welcomes the opportunity to share the experience with all who are interested. Andy was one of only 25 instructors nationwide to receive an "Outstanding Instructor of the Year Award". He has received this award two years in a row. (2005 and 2006)
