Couples Combo Class (ASA103 & 104)

Class Dates: 4 Days (Thursday thru Sunday)

 This class will be offered once per month April thru September.

This course is designed for a couple. This four day course goes a a more leisurely pace than the three day course, allowing more time to relax and enjoy the cruise.

Spend four days aboard Blanca Luna, a 38 foot Pearson 385, hosted by Captain Tony and Lori Pizzuti. They will introduce you to the sailor’s way of life as well as help you improve your sailing skills, teach new skills and prepare you for chartering your own boat.

 You will have your own cabin and head with shower. All linens, towels, and cooking utensils are provided.

 Day 1

-Complete Paperwork

-Introduction to Coastal Navigation

-Plan meals, purchase, and stow provisions

-Review mechanics of the boat and sailing systems

-Practice docking at Kemah Boardwalk Marina

-Leave Kemah for a day of sailing in Galveston and Trinity Bays

-Anchor at Redfish Island or Smith’s Point for the night*

Day 2

-After breakfast, plot a course to Galveston

-Practice Man Overboard drills under sail and power

-Sail/Motor to Galveston Yacht Basin

-Docking and close quarters maneuvering

-Dinner in Galveston

Day 3

-After breakfast, a review and test for Basic Coastal Cruising

-Plot a course to a predetermined spot in the Gulf of Mexico and sail to it*

-Return late afternoon to Offat's Bayou via the Galveston Channel and the Intracoastal Waterway, navigating the Pelican Island Bridge and the Galveston Railroad Bridge*

-Anchor at Offat's Bayou for the night*

Day 4

-After breakfast, a review and testing for Bareboat Chartering

-Plot the trip home to Kemah

-With little or no help from your instructors, you will sail the Blanca Luna home
