How to choose the best sailing school.

Don’t be taken in by sailing schools trying to represent themselves as, Bay Area Sailing School, the oldest and largest sailing school in the Galveston Bay area. We have an excellent reputation, and much of our business is word of mouth. Comcast customers have seen our ads on TV. We don’t mind being imitated, in fact, we’re flattered. We do, however, object to schools that attempt to represent themselves as us on the internet. If your search directs you to any internet address other than http://www.bayareasailing.com , it’s not us.

If you live in our area, you are fortunate to have several ASA training facilities to choose from. (6 at last count) Take a little time to research and choose the school that will train you properly, and give you the best value for your dollar.  To get a complete list of the ASA schools operating in our area you should visit the official American Sailing Association website:  http://www.asa.com/states/schools_texas.html

Any school representing themselves with a name not on the ASA site should be avoided.

How old are they?

What is the cost? Are there any fees or taxes not included in the cost?

Do you offer discounts?

Do you offer any free sailing with this course?

Do you have boats that I can charter when I complete the course?

How many? What are the costs?

What happens if I don't pass the course requirements?

Do you have a sailing club?

Do you have a program that allows me to contact other sailors to sail with? (share the cost)
