Let me set the record straight ... sailing is for ALL people ... whether you're single or married ... with children (2 legged or 4 legged). Sailing is very affordable (sometimes less than dinner and a movie) and even more afforable as a member of Bay Area Sailing Association.

Members of Bay Area Sailing Association are sailing enthusiasts in the Galveston Bay area of Texas (mostly from the Houston metropolitan area) who have found a way to sail regularly without the expense and hassle of boat ownership.

Bay Area Sailing Association is a full service sailing organization. Through contracts with our boat owners, the club maintains a fleet of sailing yachts for chartering (renting) to the public. For a small membership fee, association members receive a generous discount in boat rental fees, as well as longer available sailing hours.

Our members are a diverse group of men and women of all ages and occupations whose sailing skills range from novice to expert, and who have discovered that sailing is an ideal release from the pressures of daily life.


Why Join?

Owning your own sailboat is an expensive and time consuming commitment. In addition to the purchase cost, there are registration fees, insurance, equipment replacement, dock fees, and the never-ending maintenance chores.

Bay Area Sailing Association offers a sensible, affordable alternative which allows you to enjoy all the benefits of a well-equipped and well-maintained sailing yacht without the responsibilities of ownership.

If you have decided to buy your own sailboat or to make that next step to a larger boat, Bay Area Sailing Association offers a low-cost opportunity to sail many different sizes and models and evaluate their features. Our fleet includes yachts ranging from 23 feet to 39 feet, and our staff has a working knowledge of many more designs and models.

 

FREE SAILING

When you join Bay Area Sailing Association and choose to pay your first years monthly dues in advance, you will receive a certificate for one free charter on 30 foot sailboat. (or larger)

          Sacket Sailing Center offers discounted rental rates and longer sailing hours to members of the
          Bay Area Sailing Association.

    • A 24-hour (YES! 24) sailing day for less than other charter companies charge for 8 hours.

    • A 12-hour (YES! 12) sailing 1/2 day for less than other charter companies charge for 4 hours.

    • Want to spend the night on the boat so you can get an early start the next day?
          No problem.  If the boat is not chartered already, board after 6:00 pm, stow your gear, eat dinner
          (great seafood and steak restaurants close by), play on the Kemah Boardwalk or just relax!

    • Access to Watergate Yachting Center facilities including pools, tennis courts and showers.

    • Choice of sailboats from 22' to 41' at discounted "Members Only" rates.

    • Sail to interesting destinations alone or in a Sackett Sailing Center "flotilla" (follow the leader).
          We visit The Strand and Moody Gardens in Galveston in the spring and fall and during the
          Harvest Moon Regatta in October.
